The Lady of McCalleys Creek
The Lady of McCalleys Creek isn’t just the name of a book. It’s the soul behind the story. She’s a woman who left behind the familiar and stepped boldly into a world ruled by tides, weathered docks, and the unforgiving waters of the Lowcountry. With courage tucked into her boots and faith riding on every wave, she learned to shrimp, crab, and carve out a place in a world where she didn’t quite fit in, but never stopped trying. She’s tough, tender, resilient, and deeply connected to the land and water that shaped her journey.
But more than boats and bibs, The Lady of McCalleys Creek is a reflection of anyone who’s ever dared to start over. She’s a daughter, a dreamer, a fighter, and a believer in second chances. Her story is real, raw, and often humorous, but always rooted in something deeper: a trust in God, a reverence for nature, and an unwavering love for the life she built, one tide at a time.
Terry Lynn Futrell
Author, Captain, & Lady of McCalleys Creek
Hi, I’m Terry Lynn Futrell, writer, adventurer, and the woman behind The Lady of McCalleys Creek. I never imagined I’d one day trade in my scrubs for shrimp boots, but life has a funny way of leading you exactly where you need to be. What started as a leap of faith turned into the ride of a lifetime, filled with cast nets, early mornings on the water, and more lessons than I ever saw coming.
Writing this book was more than putting words on a page. It was a way to honor my journey, the people I met, and the grace I found in some of the hardest and most beautiful moments. I hope my story brings encouragement to anyone standing at the edge of something new, wondering if they’re brave enough to jump. You are. And I’m so grateful you’re here.
